Choosing a rise and recline chair

The fit, movement and everyday details worth considering.

Start with the fit

Seat height, depth and width all affect comfort. Your feet should rest on the floor when seated, with your back supported. A home visit gives you the opportunity to have these measurements checked.

Think about how you relax

A single motor moves the backrest and footrest together. A dual motor lets you adjust them independently. Try both movements and consider whether you want to read upright, put your feet up or recline further.

Try the everyday details

Check that the controls are comfortable to hold, the armrests feel supportive and the fabric suits your room. Allow enough space for the chair to recline and discuss access for delivery before choosing.
